Applications for admission in niche Marine Engineering and related Sciences / BBA courses in Indian Maritime University, a Central University under Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, are now open and shall close soon on 2 May 2025.
The admissions, in all technical courses, shall be through a common entrance test (CET-IMU).
Admission in BBA is on the basis of Class 12 marks (no entrance test).

Campuses & Courses: In addition to 6 IMU campuses, there are 17 affiliated institutes and some DGS approved non-affiliated institutes
In IMU campuses, courses offered are as below:
i) B.Tech in Marine Engg is offered at Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai Port.
ii) Naval Arch & Ocean Engg is offered at Vishakhapatnam.
iii) Naval Architecture & Ship Building is offered at Visakhapatnam.
iv) BSc (Nautical Science) is offered at Chennai, Kochi and Navi Mumbai.
v) BBA (Maritime Logistics) is offered at Visakhapatnam.
(vi) BBA (Logistics, Retailing & E-Commerce) is offered at Chennai and Kochi.
Admissions in Institutes Regulated by DGS: As per DGS (Directorate General of Shipping) Training Circular 12 of 2020, dated 01.04.2020, all Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs) regulated by DG Shipping are required to admit candidates on the basis of IMU-CET ranking and as amended from time to time. IMU-CET is mandatory for admission to DGS approved Programmes.
Acceptance of CUET-UG: Candidates can seek admission, based on CUET-UG score, to UG Programmes at the time of spot counselling for the residual seats available after Third List.
Acceptance of 2024 admission test: Candidates desirous of taking admission to IMU programmes through any other eligible scores or through IMUCET ranks of year 2024, need not register in IMU-CET 2025 portal.

Admission test / criteria
Admission in BTech and BSc (NS) is on the basis of IMU CET. However, CUET students can take admission for residual seats pending after third list.
Admission in BBA is on the basis of CUET / Class 12 marks. CUET candidates will be given preferences.
For BSc (SBR), no registration in IMU-CET portal is required. Admission will be done by the institute concerned as per IMU’s eligibility criteria.
Campuses & Courses: In addition to 6 IMU campuses, there are 17 affiliated institutes and 28 DGS approved non-affiliated institutes In IMU campuses, courses offered are as below:

Admission in institutes approved by DG Shipping but not affiliated to IMU: IMU has listed 28 such institutes in the prospectus and specified that for admission to DGS approved programmes (B.Tech(ME), B.Sc (NS) & DNS) in affiliated / non-affiliated institutes, IMU-CET rank is compulsory, hence the candidates desirous of taking admissions to these programmes need to register in IMU-CET registration portal to take IMU-CETand secure ranks.
After conduct of IMU-CET, IMU will issue Rank Certificate to qualified candidates in CET.

About Indian Maritime University (IMU) : IMU was established on Nov 14, 2008 as a teaching and affiliating university under the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, with Chennai as headquarters. There were 7 renowned legacy teaching-cum-research institutes under the Ministry of Shipping, and these were subsumed under the Indian Maritime University in November 2008. Currently, IMU has 6 campuses in India:
