NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences) Bengaluru, an Institute of National Importance, is accepting online applications for 2025 admissions in its BSc Nursing and 3 other Paramedical UG courses. The application process shall close on 15 Jun 2025.

4 Yr BSc Nursing (+ 1 year internship)
3 Year (+1 Yr internship) B.Sc. in Anaesthesia Technology
3 Year (+1 Yr internship) B.Sc. in Medical Imaging Technology
3 Year (+1 Yr internship) B.Sc. in Clinical Neurophysiology Technology
Eligibility Criteria – academic subject requirements
a) For Nursing
Pre-University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
OR
Passed Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years course) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
OR
Senior School Certificate examination / Pre-Degree Examination (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
OR
An equivalent with 12 years of schooling from a recognized Board or University with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
b) For Medical Imaging Technology
Pre-University examination conducted by the Department of Pre-University Education or any recognized State Board with English and Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as optional subjects.
OR
Job oriented Diploma course from a recognized board with Diagnostic Radiography as vocational subject or equivalent.
OR
Any equivalent examination recognized by NIMHANS, Bengaluru for the above purpose with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as principal subjects of study.
c) For Anaesthesia Technology
Pass in 2-year Pre-University examination or equivalent with a Science group.
d) For Clinical Neurophysiology Technology
Pre-Degree / Pre-University / 12th standard with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects.

About the institute : The Government of India established the All India Institute of Mental Health in 1954 in association with the then existing Mental Hospital of the Government of Karnataka. The All India Institute of Mental Health and the Mental Hospital of the Government of Karnataka were amalgamated into an autonomous institute and thus the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) came into existence in 1974.
NIMHANS was conferred ‘Deemed to be University’ status by UGC in 1994 and it became an autonomous and independent university.
NIMHANS was declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament vide Government of India Gazette Notification dated 14.9.2012.
NIMHANS has been rated among the top five medical institutes in the country in NIRF rankings for the fourth consecutive year (All India Rank 4 in 2024).
The Institute has 28 departments with dedicated faculty and skilled professionals in basic, behavioural and neurosciences. Currently, there are 1391 students enrolled in different courses which includes 327 PhD scholars. Apart from providing quality care for the patients, human resource development in the areas of mental health and neurosciences has been a major focus of the Institute.
