CUET UG 2025 applications open, Many changes introduced

The National Testing Agency has started accepting online applications for CUET-UG 2025 (Common University Entrance Test – Under Graduate). The test is schedule to be conducted in from 8 May to 1 Jun 2025.

Application deadline is 22 Mar 2025 (11.50PM).

Key changes / aspects to be noted before applying

a) Choice of test papers permissible: Candidates may choose a maximum of 05 Subjects including languages and General Aptitude Test, irrespective of the subjects opted in Class 12.

Last year, it was allowed to choose maximum 06 Test papers (04 or 05 domain subjects including General Test and 01 or 02 languages).

b) Subjects on offer: Total 37 (13 Languages, 23 Domain specific subjects and 1 General Aptitude test).

Last year, there were 33 Languages, 29 Domain specific subjects and 1 General test.

c) General Aptitude Test replaces 20 Languages and 6 Domain Specific subject tests

Instead of test in below Languages and Domain Specific subjects, the GAT score will be used:

Arabic, Bodo, Chinese, Dogri, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri , Nepali, Persian, Russian, Santhali, Sindhi, Spanish, Tibetan and Sanskrit.

Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies and Engineering Graphics.

d) Completely online test

CUET will be conducted in completely online mode (Computer Based Test).

Last year, it was conducted in hybrid mode. 15 papers were conducted in pen and paper mode and the rest in online mode.

e) Change in test duration

Each paper this year will be of 1 hour duration.

Last year, test duration was 60 Minutes for Economics, Physics, Computer Science / Informatics Practices, Chemistry, Mathematics / Applied Mathematics, General Test and 45 Minutes for other papers.

f) Change in number of questions

There will be 50 questions in every paper.

Last year, 50 questions were to be answered in General test while in all other papers, 40 had to be attempted.

g) All questions compulsory (no choice)

There is no choice this year – all questions are compulsory.

Last year one had to attempt 40 questions out of 50 for all papers except General test in which 50 out of 60 had to be attempted
