Parents cry foul over medical college admissions in Telangana
Published on : 24-Apr-2016 Powered by www.Opasis.comStudents aspiring to appear for the medical and common entrance test for admission into private medical and dental colleges in Telangana could not access the payment gateway on the website raising suspicion that it is being blocked deliberately to keep out unwanted candidates from the race.
Parents alleged that when they tried to reach the contact number given in the website it was landing in a medical hall in King Koti.
In fact, the medical hall owner also complained to the parents that he had been receiving hundreds of phone calls daily enquiring about the medical college admissions.
The number posted on the website 04065512887 has now been changed with a new number 04042210142.
But even this number is not that of the administration of the Telangana Private Medical and Dental Colleges Managements Association, but of a third party handling the website.
Technical snag
People attending the phone calls from parents say that the gateway was down due to a technical snag and would open only on Monday. As per the schedule, the last date for applying is Wednesday.
Parents allege that this is a deliberate attempt to keep the candidates away from taking the test to ensure that only their favourite candidates finally apply and take the exam. The entrance test is for the B category students for the 25 per cent seats that can be filled by the managements at a fee of Rs. 9 lakh per annum.
A senior police officer, unwilling to be quoted, said that he also tried to reach the office address given in the website, but could not locate it in Jubilee Hills despite several attempts.
This is raising suspicion on allegations of seats being sold to the near and dear much before the exam, he said.
The exam is scheduled for May 20.
