NCET 2024 Postponed By NTA Due To Technical Glitch

The National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in selected Central / State University / Institutions including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Government Colleges which was scheduled to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on 12 Jun 2024 has been postponed “due to technical reasons”.

The notification released by NTA in this respect reads as below:

“due to technical reasons, the examination, which had commenced at some centres, could not be initiated at all examination centres. As a result, the examination has been postponed. A new date for the NCET 2024 will be announced soon through the official NCET portal.”

About the 4 Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme: The ITEP is a Dual Major Programme:

- first major is in Education with School Specific Stage specialization and

- second major is in an opted discipline.

Beyond the teaching of cutting-edge pedagogy, the teacher education will include a grounding in sociology, history, science, psychology, early childhood care, and education, foundational literacy and numeracy, knowledge of India and its values / ethos / art / traditions, and more. [NEP 2020: 15.5]

List of Universities/Institutions: There are 64 participating universities/institutes.

- BA-BEd is offered In 51 Universities / Institutes

- BCom-BEd is offered in 14 Universities / Institutes

- BSc-BEd is offered n 42 Universities / Institutes

Please note that not all courses are offered at every institute. Institute wise list of offering is provided in Annexure II of NTA brochure.

Counseling: Candidates who will be appearing in NCET will participate in the Counselling / admission process of any Central / State University / Institution (IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Govt. Colleges) which have been granted recognition by NCTE for ITEP for the academic session 2024-25. University/ Institution / Govt. College may fill up the vacant seats thereafter from the pool of NCET-qualified candidates.
