Kerala State Institute of Design invites applications for 2020 admissions in its 4 Year Bachelor of Design programme.

The Kerala State Institute of Design (KSID) was established for the purpose of creating a vibrant design community in Kerala through synergistic partnership between artisan community, professional designers and general public. The institute was later merged with Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE) on 1st April 2014. KASE is the apex agency for all skill development activities in the state of Kerala. One of the most important objectives of KSID is to promote design education. To realise this objective, KSID is supported by National Institute of Design Ahmedabad. NID support includes creation of a comprehensive roadmap for KSID through systematic plan of action to develop and strengthen the organisation, faculty development and offering courses developed by NID.

Affiliation : KSID is affiliated to All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University.

Course structure and Electives : Each student would have to undergo a mandatory generic foundation programme of 2 years and a 2 year domain speci­fic training. The candidate, on successful completion of the first 2 years of generic foundation, then has the choice to choose the design discipline based on his/her merit and skills. At present KSID is offering electives in the following domains :

1. Product Design

2. Communication Design

3. Textile Design

4. Apparel Design

APJKTU syllabus is being followed for the program.

Intake and reservation : There are total 30 seats. Out of these, 50% are reserved for in-state candidates (i.e., candidates from Kerala)

Eligibility

a) 10+2/higher secondary exams with a mandatory minimum marks of 50%

b) Candidates having taken any stream in their higher secondary (10+2) that is, Science, Arts Commerce

or Humanities can apply.

c) Candidates must have obtained the above mentioned quali­fication from any recognized board of education such as ICSE, CBSE, IB, IGCSE or any other that is equivalent.

d) Applicants should have passed the higher-secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations with the desired criteria as mentioned above.

e) Candidates must have a valid UCEED 2020 score.

Age limit

a) The upper age limit would be 20 (that is, only those born on or after August 1st 2000) for all Indian Nationals in the General Category and General EWS Category.

b) For the Indian Nationals that fall in the Reserved Category (that would be OBC – Non-Creamy Layer, SC, ST) the upper age limit would be 23 (that is only those born on or after August 1st 1997)

Selection procedure : The initial selection would be based on the UCEED (2020) score and short-listed candidates will be called for an Interview.

Final selection of candidates will be purely based on merit and rank list which will be published after the interviews.

How to apply

Create a username and password through onetime registration. Username and password will be emailed to your registered ID.

Use the user name and password to login the candidate/ student registration and fill in the application form.

Mention the Reference No, Amount and Date in particular column before final submission.

Applicants can print and verify the submitted application from student/candidate login.
