IIT Kanpur notifies eligibility for JEE Advanced 2025 3rd attempt

In accordance with the recent decision by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, IIT Kanpur has now notified which candidates, who passed Class 12 in 2023, can attempt JEE Advanced 2025 despite this becoming their 3rd attempt at it (remember – in normal course of things, candidates who passed Class 12 before 2024 are not eligible).

Eligibility for 3rd attempt: Students who appeared in their class 12 examination for the first time in 2023 AND have withdrawn from their courses and dropped out between 05.11.2024 to 18.11.2024 would be permitted to register for JEE Advanced 2025, subject to satisfying ALL other applicable eligibility criteria as outlined in Clause 11 of the Information Brochure.

The above has been notified consequent to the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India (pertaining to Writ Petition (Civil) Nos. 854/2024 and 17/2025) dated 10.01.2025.

List of 23 IITs : IIT Bhilai, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dhanbad, Dharwad, Gandhinagar, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kharagpur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Mandi, Mumbai, New Delhi, Palakkad, Patna, Roorkee, Ropar, Tirupati, Varanasi

Other institutes accepting JEE-Advanced: Other institutes which have used JEE-Advanced ranks in the past include the following :

- Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc)

- Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) located in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati

- Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram

- Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Rae Bareli

- Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy, Visakhapatnam
