Here comes another major change in eligibility requirement for admission in B.Arch. The Council of Architecture has amended the Council of Architecture (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations 2020 and amended (relaxed) the eligibility requirement for admission to Architecture course w.e.f. 19 July 2023.

CoA has, therefore, also decided to conduct a special Round 4 of NATA for 2023 admissions on 17 Sep 2023.

New eligibility

1.No candidate shall be admitted to architecture course unless she/he has passed an 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with either Chemistry or Biology or Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies with at least 45% in aggregate or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 45% marks in aggregate”.

2. “The candidates need to qualify an aptitude test in architecture conducted either by NTA (i.e., JEE) or “NATA” conducted by the Council of Architecture.”

What this change amounts to is removal of Chemistry as one of the compulsory subjects. In lieu of Chemistry, there are 7 other subjects from which a student may choose any one.

Additionally, the minimum marks requirement has been relaxed to 45%, which was 50% till now.

a) Compulsory subjects in 10+2 or equivalent: Physics and Mathematics

b) Optional (third) subject: Any one out of Chemistry, Biology, Technical Vocational subject, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies

c) Min marks: 45% aggregate in compulsory and one optional subject taken together

Special NATA Round 4 on 17 Sep 2023

1. In light of the above changes coming into effect from 19 July 2023, CoA shall conduct the 4th test of NATA 2023 on 17 Sep 2023.

2. This is being done to provide one final opportunity for BArch admissions in 2023 batch.

3. Candidates will be able to appear in this round even if they have not appeared in any of the previous 3 rounds.

4. Admission of candidates successful in Round 4 shall be only against vacant/unfilled seats available. Centralized Admission Counseling process in the states shall continue and will not be affected by the results of this round.
