Certificate and Diploma Courses in Special Education and Disability Rehabilitation
National Board of Examination in Rehabilitation (NBER) an adjunct body of Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) invites online applications from the eligible candidates for admission to its various Certificate & Diploma Level Courses in Special Education and Disability Rehabilitation offered by RCI’s approved Institutions/University Departments across the country.
Admission criteria: There is no entrance test. Admission to these Courses will be made through Centralised Online e-Counselling on the merit basis only.
Course, duration, eligibility
A. After Class 10
1. CCRT Certificate Course in Rehabilitation Therapy – 1 year
10th or equivalent pass.
2. CBS Certificate Course in Bench Skills – 1 year
Passed 10th class with at least 50% marks in regular schooling mode from a recognized Indian board.
3. CCCG Certificate Course in Care Giving – 10 months
10th or equivalent pass.
B. After Class 12
1. DPO (Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics - 2 years
Passed in Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) in science subject, viz Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum of 50% marks in each of the core subjects.
2. DHLS (Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech) - 1 year
Passed with minimum 50% marks in 12th class having opted subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics/Computer science.
3. DHAEMT (Diploma in Hearing Aid Repair and Ear Mould Technology) – 1 year
A pass in 12th class with Physics or Electronics as one of the papers, or any recognized diploma in Electronics/ Electrical engineering, or any qualified dental technician course, or Certificate or Diploma from ITI in Electronics/Electrical Engineering area.
4. D.Ed.Spl.Ed.(HI) (Diploma in Special Education (Hearing Impairment) – 2 years
Passed 10+2 or equivalent with 50% of marks in any stream.
5. DECSE (HI) (Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Hearing Impairment) – 1 year
Successful completion of 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent with 50% marks which is as per Rehabilitation Council of India rules.
6. DISLI (Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation) – 2 years
A Candidate should have:
a) Senior Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with minimum 50% marks
b) Functional hands
c) Fluency in at least one language
d) Hearing in the normal range
The reservation and relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and other categories shall be as per the rules of the Central Government/ State Government, whichever is applicable.
7. DTISL (Diploma in Teaching Indian Sign Language) – 2 years
A candidate should have:
1) Certificate of Disability (Deaf)
2) Passed class10+2 (Senior Secondary) or equivalent with minimum 45% marks
3) Proficient receptive and productive skills in ISL
The admission process will include:
- Relevant tests to assess ISL skills and written language skills.
- Interview
8. D.Ed.Spl.Ed.(VI) (D.Ed. in Special Education (Visual Impairment) – 2 years
Passed 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks in any stream
9. DCE&AT (Diploma in Computer Education& Assistive Technology (Visual Impairment) – 1 year
Successful completion of 10+2 or senior secondary examination or equivalent from a recognized Board of Education with minimum 50% marks. Relaxation/Reservation norms will be as per respective Governments as applicable.
10. D.Ed.Spl.Ed.(IDD) (Diploma in Special Education (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) – 2 years
Passed 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks in any stream.
11. DVRIS Diploma in vocational Rehabilitation (Intellectual Disability) – 1 year
Successful completion of the 10+2 or equivalent examination in general education.
12. DECSE(ID) Diploma in Early Childhood Special Education (Intellectual Disability) – 1 year
Passed 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks in any stream.
13. D.Ed.Spl.Ed.(MD) Diploma in Special Education (Multiple Disabilities) – 2 years
Passed 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks in any stream.
14. DRT Diploma in Rehabilitation Therapy – 2-1/2 years
Passed in the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) (PCB) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized board or Equivalent.
14. DCBR Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation – 2 years
Passed 10+2 years of schooling (completed minimum 18 years of age) at the beginning of the academic year. Preference will be given to Parents of people with disability, teachers, diploma nurses, health workers, CBR workers, special teachers.
Merit List & Result Declaration: NBER will prepare and display the Merit List and Seat Allotment Results based on the candidate’s category, percentage of marks, and choice filling.
Results, including the Rank and Allotted Institute/Course, will be available on the candidate’s dashboard.
Candidates who are allotted a seat must report to the respective Institute/College within the specified timeframe.
Failure to take admission within the deadline may result in loss of the allotted seat or lower priority in further counselling rounds.

b) Application fee: Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred) only for General, EWS and OBC applicants, Rs. 350/- (Rupees Four Hundred) for SC, ST, PwD applicants will be accepted only through Online mode - Debit / Credit Card / Net Banking / UPI. An amount of ?54/- will be charged as Bank Charges /Convenience Fee at the time of payment.
