The Central University of Karnataka (CUK) was established by the Parliament of India vide Act No. 3 of 2009. It is one of the sixteen new Central Universities, aimed at increasing access to quality higher education in districts with a Graduate Enrolment Ratio less than the national average. CUK, with its territorial jurisdiction all over Karnataka, initiated its academic activities in August 2009 from its temporary premises on Gulbarga University (GUG) campus. The foundation stone of the campus was formally laid on October 29, 2010 in a 641 acre land in Kadaganchi village on Aland Road. On 30 November 2013 the university moved to its own campus on the said land endowed by the Government of Karnataka. All the schools now function from the university’s new premises in Kadaganchi.
