7 Clauses that Explains the DU Eligibility Issue

Last week two petitions were filed in the Delhi High Court challenging the 2019 Admission eligibility of two of the courses - BA (Hons) Economics and BCom (Hons).  The petitioners argued that the changes in eligibility in 2019 as compared to 2018 admissions was arbitrary and were hurriedly brought in without proving prior notice to students.  The Delhi High Court after hearing the arguments of both, the petitioners and of that of DU, sided with that of the petitioners and quashed the amendment to admissions eligibility criteria.  
The Delhi Court directed DU to -
a) follow admission criteria of 2018 and 
b) extend the application deadline to 22nd June

In addition, the university's academic council (AC) and executive council (EC) have protested against these changes.  The EC has also written a letter to the Vice Chancellor (V-C) Yogesh Tyagi specifically highlighting 7 programs whose eligibility were changed this year arbitrarily without consulting the Academic Council:

1. B.Com (Hons)
2018: Passing Mathematics / Business Mathematics as mandatory requirements 
2019: 50% or more marks in Mathematics / Business Mathematics

2018: An aggregate of 45% in qualifying exams
2019: An aggregate of 60% in qualifying exams

2. B.Com
2018: An aggregate of 45% in qualifying exams
2019: An aggregate of 60% in qualifying exams

3. B.A. (Hons) except languages
2018: An aggregate of 45% in qualifying exams
2019: An aggregate of different % of marks in qualifying examinations for different subjects, for instance Science, Philosophy, Social Work, Geography etc. - 55%

4. B.A. (Hons) Economics
2018: No additional criteria
2019: Mathematics made compulsory in the best of 4 subjects 

5. B.Sc. (Hons) Maths & Stats
2018: An aggregate of 45% in qualifying exams
2019: An aggregate of 60% in qualifying exams with 60% in Maths

6. B.Sc. (Hons) 
2018: Min 55% marks in the best 3 subjects
2019: Min 60% marks in the best 3 subjects

7. B.A. (Prog)
2018: An aggregate of 40% in qualifying exams
2019: An aggregate of 50% in qualifying exams
