Course offered : 4 Year Bachelor of Design

Symbiosis Entrance Exam For Design (SEED) is conducted for admission in undergraduate course of Symbiosis Institute of Design Pune (SID) and Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture and Design, Nagpur (SPAD). Symbiosis Institute of Design is a constituent institute of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

Course structure: The course structure includes a common Foundation Program in which Students learn how to develop basic know-how and skills making effective use of the sketchbook, explore recording methods, develop visual perception, acquire professional attitudes to set projects and show a critical, contextual and historical awareness in the areas of design.

Foundation Programme comprises of Semester 1 and 2 and is common for all disciplines of B. Des Programme. This short programme is followed with the four major disciplines interwoven with research, skills and visualization to enhance the academics with profession specific requirements.

(i) Communication Design: 60 students at SPAD and 92 at SID (including 12 seats for International students) 

Specialisations offered at  SPAD Nagpur: Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Animation Film Design.
Specialisations offered at  SID Pune: Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Animation Film Design, Video Film Design.

(ii) Industrial Design: 30 students at SPAD and 52 students at SID (including 7 seats for International students)

Specialisations offered at SPAD:  Interior Space Design
Specialisations offered at SID:  Interior Space Design, Product Design

(iii) Fashion Design: 52 students at SID (including 7 for International students)

(iv) Fashion Communication: 30 students at SID (including 4 for International students)
 

Admission process

(i) Step 1 : Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) in online mode. The result of SEED will be put up on institute website as per the schedule. If a candidate qualifies SEED, he/she would be eligible to appear for SID’s Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI). Shortlisting for admission will be based only by specialization selected during online registration.
(ii) Step 2: Uploading of portfolio on the portal a day prior to the PRPI.

(iii) Step 3: PRPI task will be shared 3 days prior to the chosen date of online PRPI. Portfolio has to be uploaded on the portal a day prior to the PRPI.

(iv) Step 4 : Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (online).

Final selection would be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the chosen specialization.

(a): 25% seats are reserved for 'Nagpur Domiciled' candidates.

(b): 25% concession on Academic Fees will be provided by SIU for Nagpur Domiciled Candidates

Fee

a) Academic fee :
SPAD: Rs.3,20,000/- per annum for non-Nagpur domicile candidates & Rs. 2,75,000 for Nagpur domiciled candidates.

SID: Rs. 4,88,000/- per annum

b) Hostel & mess fee (including shuttle bus service wherever applicable): Rs.2.68Lacs to Rs.3.21Lacs per annum

International students: All the admissions for international Students are handled only through Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE).
