Pondicherry University, a Central Univ accredited with “A” grade by NAAC, was established in 1985, has 3 campuses. The University has 15 Schools, 38 Departments, 12 Centres and 1 Chair offering over 140 PG, PG-Diploma/Certificate & Research programmes. The University has two-off campuses, one located in Port Blair (Andamans) with two Departments viz., Ocean Studies and Marine Biology and Coastal Disaster Management and another Post-Graduate Centre at Karaikal.
At present, 92 Colleges offering various courses in Arts & Science, Education, Law, Dental, Medical & Para-Medical, Veterinary and Engineering are affiliated to Pondicherry University. Apart from this, the University has entered MoU for academic collaboration with 76 Universities/Institutions, of which 40 are International and 36 are National, during last three years.

Limited hostel facility
(i) Since only limited hostel facility is available, hostel accommodation can be given to one third of the students to be admitted for each course. Admission to the Hostel will be subject to the recommendations of the concerned Head of the Department, and also subject to the approval of the Chief Warden and availability of rooms.
(ii) No room rent is charged from SC/ ST students.
(iii) Rent free accommodation is provided to differently-abled students. The differently-abled Students have to pay their Mess Fees and then claim for subsidy from the University Hostels. However, they have to pay all other fees like application for admission, General Amenities Fund, Establishment charges, Caution Deposit.
Concession for the Wards of Kashmiri Migrants in Admissions Based on the Instructions of MHRD
(i) Relaxation in cut-off percentage up to 10% subject to minimum eligibility requirement.
(ii) Increase in intake capacity up to 5% course-wise.
(iii) Reservation of at least one seat in merit quota in technical/ professional institutions.
(iv) Waiving of domicile requirements for Kashmiri migrants only. Kashmiri Pandits/ Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non- Migrants) living in the Kashmiri Valley need domicile certificate.
Mock tests : Provision for Mock Test Trial is available on the website during the period of application and thereafter. A candidate can take the mock tests any number of times from anywhere any time and thus become familiar with writing Online based entrance examination.
