Pondicherry University, a Central Univ accredited with “A” grade by NAAC, was established in 1985, has 3 campuses. The University has 15 Schools, 38 Departments, 12 Centres and 1 Chair offering over 140 PG, PG-Diploma/Certificate & Research programmes. The University has two-off campuses, one located in Port Blair (Andamans) with two Departments viz., Ocean Studies and Marine Biology and Coastal Disaster Management and another Post-Graduate Centre at Karaikal.

At present, 92 Colleges offering various courses in Arts & Science, Education, Law, Dental, Medical & Para-Medical, Veterinary and Engineering are affiliated to Pondicherry University. Apart from this, the University has entered MoU for academic collaboration with 76 Universities/Institutions, of which 40 are International and 36 are National, during last three years.

About the special programme (in collaboration with France)

It is a Joint Degree Programme. And this tailor-made joint Degree is to synergize Pondicherry University and Paris-1 Pantheon-Sorbonne in the fields of Social & Economic Management and Law, as per the M.O.U. signed on 1st April 2019.

The students from Pondicherry University who opt for this Programme will spend the first two years in Pondicherry University, and the third year will be in Paris-1. The Paris-1 students will spend the first two years in Paris-1, and the third year in Pondicherry University. Each group will have to reach the B2 level in French / English.

The Pondicherry University BA (SEAL) students will have the exit option in case they do not wish to continue their Masters.

If the Paris-1 students wish to continue their Masters, they will join Pondicherry University for the MA (SEAL).

Programme outcome : This Programme offers a professional qualification curriculum and aims to further the bilateral and educational links between India and France. The MA Intg. (SEAL) is an interdisciplinary blend of Social Sciences, Economics, Commerce, Management, and Law, and it would give the perfect grounding to appear for the UPSC / IAS / IFS. It will also be an excellent opportunity to work after the completion of this Degree in governmental institutions or corporates, specially in Indo-French companies ; there is also the possibility of these Graduates being absorbed by the very same companies where they would have done their Internships.

Award of Dual Degree

(a) Degree given on exit after 3 years : A Dual Degree "Licence Administration Économique et Sociale" from Paris-1, and "Bachelor of Arts in Social, Economic Administration and Law" from Pondicherry University.

(b) Degree given on exit after 5 years integrated programme : A Dual Degree "Licence Administration Économique et Sociale" from Paris-1, and "Master of Arts in Social, Economic Administration and Law" from Pondicherry University

Reservation : SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 5%, Differently Abled 5%

Limited hostel facility

(i) Since only limited hostel facility is available, hostel accommodation can be given to one third of the students to be admitted for each course. Admission to the Hostel will be subject to the recommendations of the concerned Head of the Department, and also subject to the approval of the Chief Warden and availability of rooms.

(ii) No room rent is charged from SC/ ST students.

(iii) Rent free accommodation is provided to differently-abled students. The differently-abled Students have to pay their Mess Fees and then claim for subsidy from the University Hostels. However, they have to pay all other fees like application for admission, General Amenities Fund, Establishment charges, Caution Deposit.

Concession for the Wards of Kashmiri Migrants in Admissions Based on the Instructions of MHRD

(i) Relaxation in cut-off percentage up to 10% subject to minimum eligibility requirement.

(ii) Increase in intake capacity up to 5% course-wise.

(iii) Reservation of at least one seat in merit quota in technical/ professional institutions.

(iv) Waiving of domicile requirements for Kashmiri migrants only. Kashmiri Pandits/ Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non- Migrants) living in the Kashmiri Valley need domicile certificate.

Mock tests : Provision for Mock Test Trial is available on the website during the period of application and thereafter. A candidate can take the mock tests any number of times from anywhere any time and thus become familiar with writing Online based entrance examination.
