Punjab University Chandigarh is one of the oldest Universities in India. Established in 1882 as University of Punjab at Lahore (now in Pakistan).
Panjab University Campus at Chandigarh, spread in 550 acres, accommodates seventy four teaching and research departments / institutes / centres besides six independent Chairs for research. Furthermore, the university has 202 affiliated and 6 Constituent Colleges spread over Punjab and Chandigarh besides Regional Centres at Muktsar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur and Kauni. In addition, there is the Vishveshavaranand Vishwa Bandhu Institute of Sanskrit and Indological Studies at Hoshiarpur.
To meet the needs of demand of hospitality and tourism industry, a new department was established in 2009 with the name of University Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism (UIHMT) which for human resource development with the focus on Hospitality and Tourism sector. It is now renamed as University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM).

Reservation
a) General 53.5%, SC 15%, ST 7.5%, BC 5%
b) 5% seats will be horizontally reserved for persons or class of Persons with Disability (PwD) out of which 1% each shall be reserved for persons suffering from the disabilities specified under the RPWD 2016 Act.
c) Sports 5%, Defence 5%
d) 2% for Riot / Terrorist victims.
e) 2% for the Children/Grand Children of Freedom Fighters.
Minimum score for inclusion in Merit list: A candidate shall be included in a particular merit list on the basis of attainment of a minimum of 15% (cut off) aggregate of maximum marks in the test taken as a whole. Only in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Backward Classes / PwD, this requirement will be a minimum attainment of 10% (cut-off) aggregate of maximum marks in PUTHAT test, taken as a whole.

Second instalment of Rs.39,985/- to be paid in Nov
(a) BTTM
First instalment of Rs.50,830/- + Student welfare activities fund of Rs.3,000/- per annum
Second instalment of Rs.24,405/- to be paid in Nov
Note : Candidates, interested to avail hostel facility, are advised to bring with them an extra amount of Rs.9,050/- (approximately) for admission in the hostels.
