Currently the world’s seventh largest commercial employer with over 1.3 million employees, Indian Railways has evolved into the fourth largest rail network globally. Realizing the opportunity to bring in transformational change not only in the transportation sector, but in nation-building on a larger scale, the Indian Railways has established India’s first university focused on transport and allied industries.

National Rail And Transportation Institute (NRTI) was declared a deemed to be university under de novo category vide notification No.F.9/t/zotB-U.3 (A) issued by the Ministry for Human Resource Development on July 26, 2018.

NRTI’s path-breaking programmes, which commenced in 2018 with its first batch of around 100 undergraduate students, have a unique pedagogical focus on experiential learning and practice, and cutting-edge research and innovation, through the lens of management and technology.

International partnerships : NRTI has forged academic partnerships with top-ranked global universities offering opportunities for student and faculty exchange, joint research and learning, including Cornell University (USA), University of California Berkeley (USA), Russia University of Transport (MIIT) Moscow (Russia), St. Petersburg State Transport University (Russia).

Intake : 125 each in BSc and BBA

Reservation : General (including EWS) 50.5%, OBC 27%, SC 15%, ST 7.5%. Supernumerary seats will also be considered for PwD, Kashmiri Migrants and Ex-Servicemen, as per Government Regulations.

Fee structure (annual) (for BSc & BBA)

Refundable caution deposit : Rs.5,000/-

One time admission fee : Rs.1,500/-

Registration fee : Rs.1,000/-

Tuition fee  Rs.84,270/-

Campus facilities charge : Rs.5,000/-

Mess advance (chargeable at actuals) : Rs.50,000/-

Hostel charges : Rs.36,000/- (Electricity charges will be additional, and on actuals. Hostel and Mess is compulsory for students as the Undergraduate programme is fully residential)

Total : Rs.1,82,770/-

Financial aid

Slab 1 - Gross family annual income < INR 1,00,000 : 100% Tuition waiver, 50% Hostel Fee waiver

Slab 2 - Gross family annual income between INR 1,00,000 and INR 3,00,000 : 50% Tuition waiver, 25% Hostel Fee waiver

Financial aid recipients will be based on eligible applicants’ ranking in the NRTI Entrance test. 20% of the seats available for financial aid, under each Slab, are reserved for female candidates.

Placements: NRTI’s first graduating batch of BBA and B.Sc. students (2018-21) have been recruited by organizations like the Aditya Birla Group, Reliance Group, Adani Group, L&T, Mahindra Group, Hindustan Unilever, Siemens, KEC International and other leading organisations.
