About the university : Jamia Millia Islamia, established in 1920, is now a Central University (since 1988) with Minority Institution status since 2011. JMI has become an ensemble of a multi-layered educational system which covers all aspects of schooling, under-graduate, post-graduate, Ph.D. and post-doctoral education. It has 11 faculties of learning, 44 teaching and research departments, over 30 centres of learning and research, approx. 200 courses and 800+ faculty members and more than 20000 students.
Jamia has research centres that have given it an edge in terms of critical research in various areas. Some of these are Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution; Academy of International Studies; Centre for Culture, Media and Governance; Centre for Dalit and Minorities Studies; Centre for Nano sciences and Nanotechnology; FTK Centre for Information Technology; Centre for Management Studies; Dr. K.R. Narayanan Centre for Dalit & Minority Studies; Centre for West Asian Studies; Centre for Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Sciences; Centre for Theoretical Physics and Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences.

Selection Procedure : Admission will be granted purely on merit of Entrance Test and as per University’s reservation policy
Muslim minority reservation : 30% of total seats are for Muslim applicants, 10% of total seats are for Women applicants who are Muslims, 10% of total seats are for OBCs and STs who are Muslims.
The reservation for Muslim OBC candidates will only be applicable to the candidates belonging to “Non-Creamy Layer”. All such applicants are required to submit an OBC (Central Government List) certificate from the competent authority, format of which is available on http://ncbc.nic.in/backwardclasses/index.html.
Other reservations : 5% for physically challenged persons, 5% for internal students of Jamia who have passed qualifying examination from Jamia schools as regular students, 5% (not exceeding 2 seats per programme) for Kashmiri migrants.
Reservation and relaxations under special provisions also available for candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, foreign candidates, outstanding players, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers.
Fee : Total annual fee is Rs.7,800
Hostel : There is no guarantee of hostel accommodation as University has limited residential facility for students.
Answer key upload and challenging : The answer key of Entrance test question paper (Of Multiple Choice Questions Only) will be uploaded on admission result page within 5 working days after the entrance test is over. The applicant has to submit their grievance/challenge online for change in key, within 48 hours after the key upload. The candidate has to pay fees of Rs.500/- per programme to challenge the uploaded key. No grievance will be entertained without fee payment.
