Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is the first University established in 1998 by Govt. of NCT of Delhi. It is a teaching and affiliating University with the explicit objective of facilitating and promoting studies, research and extension work in emerging areas of higher education with focus on professional education, for example engineering, technology, management studies, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, education, law, etc.
From a modest beginning with 20 programs in 1998, the University has now grown into an academic powerhouse, offering 190 programs across 18 Schools of Studies, 3 Centres of Excellence and over 110 affiliated institutions, catering to over 100,000 students.
The new green campus in East Delhi, equipped with modern infrastructure is now functional and houses The Schools of Automation and Robotics as well as The School of Innovation and Design there with more than 2500 Students.
Work on the phase-II of Dwarka Campus, to expand capacity to accommodate more students is on the anvil. A new campus in about 22 acres at Narela is being planned for the coming times.
Accreditation: The University has been accredited with grade A++ by NAAC.
NIRF 2024 Rank: Ranked no. 89 in the category “Engineering” and no. 80 in the category “University”, 65 in the category “Management”, 17 in the category “Law”.
Bi-annual admissions: In pursuance of public notice of University Grants Commission regarding Bi-Annual admissions in the Universities, Board of Management and Academic Council of the University approved, In-Principle, for implementing Biannual Admission from the Academic Session 2025-26 with a resolution that the modalities for the same be worked out by the University and the detailed guidelines relating to Bi-Annual admissions shall be notified on the University websites in due course of time.
Admissions Criteria: Admission shall be on the basis of the merit of the CET (CET Code 126) to be conducted by IPU. The vacant seats after exhausting the merit list of CET will be filled through the merit list of CUET-UG.

Seats Allocation Quota
(1) Non-Minority Colleges/Institutes
a) 85% seats are reserved for Delhi Region Candidates, i.e. those who have passed the qualifying examination from any school/Institute located in NCT of Delhi. These seats will be filled up through the merit /rank list of the respective CET Code prepared for Delhi Region candidates. The candidates who have passed the qualifying examination through Distance/Open Education system of any recognized University/ Institute and had his/her Study Centres in Delhi will be considered as Delhi Region Candidates but the responsibility to provide proof of his/her study centre in Delhi will be of the candidate only.
b) 15% seats are reserved for Outside Delhi Region Candidates, i.e. those who have passed the qualifying examination from any school/ Institute located outside Delhi. These seats will be filled up through the merit/rank list of the CET prepared for Outside Delhi Region Candidates. The candidates who have passed the qualifying examination through Distance/Open Education system of any recognized University/ Institute and had his/her Study Centres outside Delhi will be considered as Outside Delhi Region Candidates but the responsibility to provide proof of his/her study centre outside Delhi will be of the candidate only.
c) Seat allocation for Delhi Region Candidate and Outside Delhi Region Candidate will be on the basis of directions of Govt of NCT of Delhi.
(2) Minority Institutions
The seats would be allocated on as per policy of Govt. of NCT of Delhi that have a minority status.
General Notes
a) The candidates who have passed the qualifying examination through Distance/Open Education system of any recognized University/Board and fail to provide the proof of his/her study centre issued by the respective Board / University of being located in Delhi shall not be considered for Delhi region Seats, and shall be considered for admission in the Outside Delhi Region Category.
b) De-reservation of unfilled Outside Delhi Quota Seats to Delhi Quota and Vice Versa: Seats reserved for Outside Delhi Category will be converted to Delhi Category and Vice versa for the programmes for which offline counseling will be done during the Open House Counselling (which will only be held if seats are vacant after 2nd round of counselling has been completed in the respective region). It is clarified that no such conversion will be allowed during 1st counselling. Instructions for the programme for which online counseling is done, are mentioned later in the Admission brochure.
c) In case of Self Financing Colleges/Institutes (except Minority Institutions), Sanctioned Intake includes 10% Management Quota (unless surrendered by the respective college/institute) seats (as per the Program Code). However, in case of University Schools of Studies, Govt. Institutes and Minority Institutions, there will be no Management Quota.
Reservations : Provision for reserved seats is available for SC, ST, PwD, Defence category candidates.
Delhi OBC category : 27% seats are reserved only for candidates holding “OBC CERTIFICATE (DELHI)” digitally signed and OBC Certificate issued to original residence of Delhi prior to 1993 belonging to the list of OBC castes in Delhi issued by Competent Authority of Delhi. The reservation will be available only in the University Schools of Studies and other Government Institutions.
EWS : Reservation for EWS category is applicable only in University School of Studies and Govt. affiliated Colleges only. This will be implemented in accordance with the Govt. of India and Govt. Of NCT of Delhi orders as applicable.
Supernumerary seat for Kashmiri Migrants : One seat, which will be supernumerary in nature, is earmarked for Kashmiri migrants in each Institution.

Single girl child: One seat in each UG program offered at UNiverssity Schools of Studies.
Management quota admissions – Please refer details in section 6.2 of the admission brochure.

Counseling: Counselling will be conducted in ONLINE mode. For details, please refer chapter 8 of brochure. Venue of counseling and list of institutions along with intake will be notified on the University’s website before commencement of counseling.
