To promote interdisciplinary scientific education and research, Ministry of Education, Government of India, has set up seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati.

IISERs offer wonderful opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students seeking fulfilling science-based careers. Students can learn the basic sciences through a detailed program and, in parallel, work on cutting-edge research alongside exceptional faculty members. Each IISER is an autonomous institution and awards the degrees.

For 2024 admissions, IISER Bhopal is the organising institute.

Students are trained in various disciplines of basic sciences as per the designed curriculum of respective IISERs during the formative year(s). Subsequently, they can take up a specialized subject(s). Please refer to the website of individual IISERs for a description of their curriculum structure.

For admissions to the BS degree programs in Engineering Sciences / Economic Sciences at IISER Bhopal, having Mathematics in class XII in mandatory.

After spending four years in the BS programme, students have the option to obtain BS-MS (Dual Degree) by spending an additional year devoted to courses and research thesis.

4-Year BS Program is offered at IISER Bhopal campus:

BS (Engineering Sciences): 84

BS (Economic Sciences): 31

Reservation: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%. PwD 5% (supernumerary), KM 3 seats per IISER (supernumerary), and  EWS upto 10% (as per Government of India rules).

Admission criteria: Admission to IISERs is exclusively through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT).

OCI/PIO: Following the judgment dated 03 February 2023, of the Honourable Supreme Court in Writ Petition (civil) 891/2021, OCI/PIO card holders shall be considered as Indian Nationals. They can apply for IAT 2024 provided they satisfy other eligibility criteria. They shall be eligible to compete for seats in the General category.

Foreign nationals: Candidates who are not citizens of India AND do not hold OCI/PIO card shall be considered foreign nationals. Such candidates if eligible to appear for IAT 2024 may contact the Chairperson Joint Admissions Committee at askjac2024@iiserb.ac.in with the email subject line "Foreign National - Application for IAT 2024".

Fee structure: The overall fee structures for individual IISERs are di?erent. Please visit the websites of individual IISERs for information about their fee structure.

Scholarships: Students admitted will be eligible for a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships as per the norms of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Seat acceptance fee: The Seat Acceptance Fee is to be paid only after an offer of admission has been made to the candidate. The SAF will have to be paid as per the category entered by the candidate in the application.

a) Rs. 35,000/- (Rs. 25,000/- + Rs. 10,000/- (Non refundable administrative fee)) for General/EWS/OBC/OBC-NCL/PwD/KM categories.

b) Rs. 17,500/- (Rs. 12,500/- + Rs. 5000/- (Non refundable administrative fee)) for SC/ST categories.

c) Failure to deposit the SAF within the stipulated time will result in the cancellation of the o?er. Furthermore, you will not be considered in any subsequent rounds of seat allotment during admission 2024.

d) Once you register in your allotted IISER, this amount will be adjusted against your ?rst semester fee.
