Exam Announced? NO
Course offered: 5 Year Integrated BS-MS in Science
About the institute: Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is the oldest science research institute of its kind in India. Since its inception in 1876, IACS has been conducting research in fundamental sciences at the highest level.
IACS is the only institution of India which has earned the Asia’s first and the country’s only Nobel Prize in Physics on the basis of the work done from India.
IACS has been conferred a Deemed to be University status in 2018 under the de novo category for offering degrees in emerging areas of basic and applied sciences. IACS is running its Integrated Bachelor's and Master's Program in Science and Master's / Integrated Master's-Ph.D. programs in various areas of Science along with regular Full-time Ph.D. Program under different Schools, namely, School of Biological Sciences, School of Chemical Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, School of Applied & Interdisciplinary Sciences, School of Materials Sciences and School of Mathematical & Computational Sciences.
Apart from fundamental researches in the various frontier areas of physics and chemistry, IACS has ventured in a significant way, for the past few years, into the emerging multidisciplinary areas such as non-conventional energy sources, advanced and novel nano-materials, chemical biology and interdisciplinary sciences.
Intake: 80 seats
About the course: IACS is conducting a de novo five year Integrated Bachelor's-Master's Program in Science for highly motivated students who have passed (10+2) Level Examination in science stream. The objective of this program is to provide high-quality education, research, and training in science. Through this special program, undergraduate teaching is integrated with modern research in all major schools of the institute.
- The first three semesters of the program will comprise foundational courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science and Biology.
- From the fourth semester onwards the students will choose one discipline (from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science) as major, subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria and availability of seats in the respective Schools.
- From seventh semester the students will be directly exposed to research.
Merit list preparation and selection procedure: Final merit list will be prepared considering appropriate weightage of the written test score (including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology / Computer Sciences) as well as the score in the interview, subject to obtaining 60% marks (reservation criteria will apply as per rules) in the qualifying board (10+2) examination.
IACS reserves the right to fix the aggregate cut-off marks in the UPST and also the relative weightage of the interview and the written test.
