Program Offered: B.A. (Hons.) in Hindustani/ Karnatak/ Percussion Music
The Faculty of Music and Fine Arts at University of Delhi offers B.A. (Honours) program in multiple music streams for students with interest in pursuing a career in music. The Faculty started in 1960 and since then, it has expanded to over four hundred and fifty students currently. The Department is proud to have had on its rolls, students from not just India, but also from abroad, such as the U.S.A., Japan, China, Mauritius, Thailand, Iran, The Netherlands, Kuwait, South Korea and Fiji, as also from neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Admission Mode:
Note: No computerized entrance examination is conducted by NTA for admission to the courses listed with the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts; entrance examination to this course is conducted exclusively by this Faculty (process to be indicated on the University website).
Intake: Total : 114 seats
Hindustani Music - Vocal: 54 seats (27 UR, 15 OBC, 8 SC, 4 ST)
Hindustani Music - Instrumental (Sitar/Sarod/Guitar/Violin/Santoor) : 20 seats (11 UR, 5 OBC, 3 SC, 1 ST)
Karnatic Music - Vocal/Instrumental(Veena/ Violin): 15 seats (7 UR, 5 OBC, 2 SC, 1 ST)
Percussion Music (Tabla/Pakhawaj): 25 seats (13 UR, 7 OBC, 4 SC, 1 ST)
- In addition 3 seats are reserved for PwD candoidates
- 5% of the total no. of seats in each course reserved for the children/widows/wives of officer and men of the Armed forces including Para Military Personal and Police forces who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards.
