Azim Premji University (APU) is a private university located in Bengaluru.  Azim Premji University is funded by the Azim Premji Foundation and is set up as a fully philanthropic and not-for-profit entity, with a clear social purpose.  Azim Premji is the founder (and non-executive chairman) of IT giant Wipro.

The first Azim Premji University was set up in Bengaluru in 2010 and today operates from a 110-acre campus. The second one, i.e., Azim Premji University, Bhopal, started in 2023 in a 50-acre campus. The work on the third campus in Ranchi has started on a 150-acre site, and this will be operational by 2026 and subsequently a fourth campus in the northeast part of India, is planned.

The masters, diploma, and short duration programmes are focused on domains of human development; for example, Education, Livelihoods, Development, Governance and Policy, Public Health, and Sustainability. The undergraduate programmes offer a broad-based liberal education – integrating the fields of human development that are the focus of the University.

The research programmes are designed for direct contribution to matters of policy and practice, in these very fields of human development, for example, through dedicated research centres on Employment, Climate Change and Local Democracy (Panchayats).

Capacity development of civil society and public system professionals is a key priority for the University. It offers a range of programmes in critical areas like early childhood education, inclusive education, disability, assessment, educational leadership, social sector leadership, and local democracy, reaching over 1 lakh practitioners annually.

The 4-Year UG Programme has two components – Common Curriculum and Specializations.
The Common Curriculum brings all the students in the program together to study areas and themes that we believe are necessary to make learning effective, rich, and satisfying. 

Common Curriculum has 4 components - Foundations, Understanding India, Interdisciplinary studies, and Creative Expressions.

Specialization involves the study of a core discipline and also providing students the flexibility to study further related disciplines to explore their interests.

Successful completion of the Honours pathway requires a thesis or research project.

The 4-Year UG dual degree program in Science and Education awards a BSc-BEd. degree. The components consist of Common Curriculum, Disciplinary courses (Life sciences, Physical Sciences or Mathematics), and Courses in Education.

Admission Cycles: Admissions open for Undergraduate Programme in two windows:
- Early Admissions (November - December)
- Regular Admissions (January - April)

Admission channels: There are two options for candidates applying for undergraduate programmes.

(i) The first option is taking the National Entrance Test conducted by Azim Premji University.

(ii) The second option is furnishing your scores in external tests. The university accepts scores obtained in CUET-UG, JEE, SAT.  The window for uploading external scores will open around May/?June 2026.

Fees
- The tuition fees for the 4-year degree is Rs.14,74,700
- Accommodation is approx. Rs.80,000 per annum (minor increase every year)

Financial assistance: The University offers need-based Scholarships (Financial Assistance) to a limited number of students covering tuition fees and accommodation, and in exceptional case, food expenses as well.
