The University has not released the prospectus for 2025-26 and has notified that “eligibility requirements and other Terms & Conditions for admission shall remain the same as was for the session 2024-25 which may be seen in the Guide to Admissions 2024-25”. DOWNLOAD NOTICE

1. There shall be a Combined Admission Test for admission to B.A.(Hons./Research) in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences. Such courses offered in Faculty of Arts are listed below:
- B.A. (Hons.) Arabic: 20 seats for males, 10 seats for females
- B.A. (Hons.) Communicative English: 15 seats for males, 20 seats for females
- B.A. (Hons.) English: 40 seats for males, 35 seats for females
- B.A. (Hons.) Quranic Studies: 10 seats for males, 10 seats for females
- B.A. (Hons.) Urdu: 40 seats for males, 50 seats for females

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is one of the oldest premier Central Universities of India. In 1875, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan founded a High School at Aligarh, which, within three years, was raised to a College known as Mohammadan Anglo Oriental College which metamorphosed into Aligarh Muslim University in 1920 through an Act of Parliament.
In the year 2010, AMU Centre at Malappuram, Kerala and AMU Centre at Murshidabad, West Bengal came into existence with students being admitted to courses in Law and Management.
In the year 2013, AMU Centre at Kishanganj, Bihar was also established and B.Ed. programme was started at all three Centres.

Chance Memo: The University may issue or display `Chance Memo List’ in addition to the list of selected candidates. Chance Memo is not an offer of admission but is issued only in case there is likelihood of a vacancy due to any reason. Chance Memo list, if any, shall be displayed on the notice boards of the concerned Department / Faculty / College / Centre / Proctor’s Office / Controller’s website. It is the responsibility of the candidate to keep track of all such notices. No separate intimation letters will be sent to the candidates offered Chance Memos.
Any seat that remains unfilled after the completion of admissions of candidates on the Select list shall be filled up by the candidate who had reported with reference to his/her Chance Memo as per the notified schedule for reporting, if any, strictly in order of Chance Memo Number. However, if such a vacancy arises after the closing date of admissions, the vacancy shall not be filled up and the same shall remain unfilled.
Simultaneous admission in two fulltime courses: No candidate shall be eligible to pursue a full-time course of study if he / she is already admitted to any full-time course of study in this University or any other University / Institution except those specifically permitted by the University in accordance with rules.
A student, other than a Ph.D. scholar, can pursue simultaneously:
a) two full time academic programmes in physical mode, both from this University or one from this University and another from any other University, only if the class timings for one programme do not overlap with the class timings of the other programme.
b) two academic programmes, one in Full-time Physical mode / Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode / Online mode from this University and another in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode / Online mode; from this or any other University.
