The Army Institute of Law (AIL) was established in July 1999 by the Indian Army under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) and is located in Mohali, Punjab. The Institute is affiliated to the Punjabi University, Patiala and approved by the Bar Council of India.

Intake:
- 100 seats distributed as below:
- Wards of Army Personnel : 75 << selection via entrance test
- All India Civil Category : 05 << selection via entrance test
- Punjab Resident Civil Category : 20  << selection based on 10+2 merit drawn up by the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and is based on candidate satisfying domicile requirement of the state of Punjab)
