Are you a

    >> Science student but don’t particularly like Physics? or

    >> Commerce / Humanities student with an analytical mind? or

    >> Have Mathematics in Class 11 or 12?

With the growing influence of internet , the demand for people with a combination of skills in Mathematics, Commercial data analytics and Humanities is on the rise. More and more students are riding this wave and opting for niche courses in these areas. In fact, many top rankers in JEE are now opting for UG & Integrated programs in pure sciences  or maths.  Interestingly, admission to some of these courses does not require Physics as a mandatory subject – a subject that some find pretty dry.  Last but not the least, for admission to some of these programmes, one doesn’t need to have studied science subjects in 10+2 !

In the first part of this blog, we will explore five such programs.

Happy reading ... !

1. B.Tech (IT & Mathematical Innovations) in University of Delhi

A fantastic one of its kind B.Tech program where students of any stream can apply as long as the candidate has studied Mathematics in 10+2 (qualifying exam).

The B.Tech in IT & Mathematical Innovation is offered at the Cluster Innovation Centre of the Delhi University. Building strong analytical skills through Mathematics and application skills of Information Technology (IT), this course encourages students to recognize the connectedness of various disciplines. The course aims to produce adequately skilled graduates with a creative mindset who can provide new solutions to industry in particular and to society in general.

The course offers three specialization streams – Management, Electronics & Embedded System and Systems Biology – important fields of education with significant interface with Mathematics and IT.

2. B.Stat (H) and B.Math (H) in Indian Statistical Institute (ISI)

Indian Statistical Institute offers B.Stat (H) at Kolkata and B.Math (H) at Bengaluru. Both of these are vary coveted programmes and are highly accepted by the industry as well as academia.

Indian Statistical Institute, known widely as ISI, was founded in 1931. Headquartered in Kolkata, it is an Institution of National Importance. Centres of the Institute have come up over the years in other major cities. Most of the research and teaching activities of the Institute take place in its headquarters in Kolkata and the four centres.
