New National Law University at Jabalpur to offer BA-LLB (H) from 2018-19 session

The Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University has been established by the Madhya Pradesh Dharmashastra National Law University Ordinance, 2018.

Course offered : 5 Year BA-LLB (Hons)

The University has been allotted 120 acres of land in the lush green surroundings at Village Pipariya adjacent to  the Jabalpur Airport. A state of art infrastructure shall be established with all the modern amenities including residential facility. It aims to provide campus facility, library, computer labs, e-library, moot court hall, sporting facilities, auditorium, hostel for accommodation, mess, canteen. etc. with quality education. Till the development of University infrastructure, the University shall function at the Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT), Ridge Road, Jabalpur which has a campus of 35 acres with administrative building of 11,729 square meters in area. BRBRAITT is the apex training institute of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, delivering quality trainings in the field of Telecommunication, OFC, Mobile, Data Communication, IT, Switching, Finance, Management etc., with its state-of-art equipment of latest technology labs. The training center was established on 22-04-1942 and known as Telecom Training Centre (TTC), Jabalpur. It holds the pride of being the oldest training centres in the field of Telecommunication in Asia. It is an ISO 9000:2008 certified institute located at the heart of the Cantonment area in Jabalpur. It has a safe and secured campus of 35 acres of land housing administrative-cum-technical block, four hostels with lodging and boarding arrangements, inspection quarters madhuban and residential quarters.

In temporary set at BRBRAITT, the teaching rooms in the academic block will be  air-conditioned and will be quipped with the modern audio-video equipments necessary for modern and pragmatic style of teaching. It  will also have well equipped library with various books and e-library containing various legal softwares.

The university will provide a separate hostel for girls and boys having approximately 40 twin sharing air-conditioned rooms for each. The hostel and academic block will be Wi-Fi enabled. A well equipped gymnasium shall also be established shortly. The environment of the institute in Cantonment area is pleasant, fresh, friendly and apt for learning.

Admission

For academic Session 2018-2019 admission to the 1st Semester of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Programme shall be made on the basis of CLAT score secured by the candidates desirous to take admission in Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur.

Date of inviting application for the admission shall be notified by the University through University website and newspapers.

Fee of Rs.1,000/- shall be charged from the candidates applying for admission (Rs.500/- in case of SC/ST).

From next academic session admission shall be made through CLAT on merit-cum-choice basis.        

Eligibility for Admission

Indian Nationals who:-

(i)      have obtained a Senior Secondary School/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognized Board with not less than 45% of the total marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC and ST candidates).

(ii)     “Age criteria – According to March 3, 2017, Supreme Court’s order, any law aspirant could fill the application form at par revised CLAT eligibility criteria. There is no age bar for CLAT application form as the Apex Court stays BCI’s age policy for this year.

(a)     CLAT Committee is yet to announce new age policy for CLAT 2018 after the Supreme Court stays BCI’s age policy. Advised to read the Supreme Court’s order on CLAT age bar.”     

(iii)    Candidates applying on reserved seats shall be required to submit copy of the relevant certificate at the time of applying otherwise their application shall not be considered.

(iv)    List of the candidates selected and candidates in waiting list shall be published by the University as per notification.

(v)     Selected candidates shall be required to deposit fee within the specified period mentioned in notification.

(vi)    If any candidate fails to deposit fee in specified time period then his or her seat shall be transferred to the candidate selected in waiting list as per merit and the candidate who failed to deposit fee in time shall not have any claim on that seat.

(vii)   Selected candidates shall be required to submit their original certificate in the office for verification.

Intake

A maximum of 120 candidates will be admitted.

Reservation:

Subject to the provisions of Ordinance – 2018, reservation in admission to various programmes for the members of Schedule Castes, Schedule Tribes and Other Backward Classes of the State of Madhya Pradesh and other categories shall be provided in accordance to the rules of M.P. State Government. Horizontal reservation shall be admissible to persons with disability as per Government rules.

Provided that if sufficient number of eligible candidates to the concerned reserved seats are not available, the unfilled seats shall be filled by the General category candidates on the basis of their merit/score in CLAT.

Seats reserved for M.P. Domicile Candidates (50%): 60

36 Seats are horizontally reserved for women candidates (30% out of 120 seats).

6 Seats are horizontally reserved for Persons with Disability (5% out of 120 seats).
