NATA to be held twice a year, Eligibility changed, Applications start from 24 Jan

Council of Architecture shall start registrations for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) from 24 Jan 2019. It has introduced many changes this year onwards,

Frequency : NATA shall now be conducted twice a year, once in April and then in July

No.of attempts : Student may appear in either or both the opportunities (April and/or July)

Score consideration : Best of the two scores shall be considered

Eligibility changed (Phsics, Chemistry , Maths in 10+2 made mandatory)

(a) For taking NATA

Passed 10+2 scheme of examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level examination.

Those appearing the 10+2 exam with PCM subjects in the current year may also provisionally appear in the exam, however, their result in NATA-2019 will be declared valid subject to fulfilling the above criteria.

(b) For admission in B.Arch

Qualifying in NATA-2019 does not constitute a right/ guarantee in favour of the candidate for his/her admission to any architecture course unless he/she has fulfilled all the prescribed requirements as specified by respective counselling and admission authorities.

Only candidates who have the following credentials shall be eligible for admission to B.Arch. Course :

a) Qualified through the recognized aptitude test in Architecture (NATA or equivalent) in 2019

b) Secured 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level examination

Qualifying marks for NATA-2019 would be based on the following rules :

1. A minimum of 25% must be secured in MCQ portion (30 out of 120)

2. A minimum of 25% must be secured in Drawing portion (20 out of 80)

3. Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council.

A Candidate will not qualify in NATA-2019 unless he/ she satisfies all three conditions mentioned above.

NATA measures the aptitude of the applicant for specific field of study, i.e. Architecture. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, Mathematics at 10+2 level and critical thinking ability that have been acquired by the candidate over the past few years and are related to the specific field of study..
